Environmental Engineer
SUMMARY
Promote environmental safety by conducting reviews of technical reports to stakeholders regarding fuel spills and leaks. Provide technical advice on problems and/or issues and direct corrective measures, through code, regulation and standards interpretation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct environmental reviews, interpreting and enforcing codes, regulations and standards and providing variance reviews based on equivalent safety analysis.
- Identify and act on deficiencies; collecting and analyzing information; investigating occurrences and incidents for root causes; developing and broadcasting corrective actions.
- Responsible for collecting, distributing, retaining and using confidential information regarding the environmental activities and condition of property from a variety of sources such as major oil companies, private fuel distributors, consultants, private home owners and insurance companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of regulations, codes and standards for fuel oil, liquid fuels and environmental protocol, environmental protection act, water resources act.
- Liaising with key industry, government stakeholders and build relationships for influencing outcomes and the ability to resolve issues without compromising safety.
- Leadership in developing safety solutions using risk informed decision making.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with strong interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people with different levels of technical background and ability to present to large groups.
