Hospital Stationary Engineer

SUMMARY

 
Ensures the safe, efficient and economical operation of all equipment in accordance with the regulations of the Operating Engineers Act.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and maintains preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Routinely performs the necessary tests and chemical treatment of boiler feed water, heating water, chilled water, condenser water and soft water.
  • Operates the Building Management computer system.
  • Performs related duties to ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of specific equipment.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Third Class Stationary Engineer.
Knowledge of automated and computer processes of building management and chemical water treatment systems.
Ability to assess mechanical malfunctions and enact solutions independently.
Must be able to troubleshoot boiler malfunctions, solving water contamination problems.
Precise movement is required in the operation of pumps, gauges, boilers, heating units, hand tools, refrigeration and ventilation equipment, plumbing fixtures, steam-distribution systems, computerized building automation system.
