Casualty Underwriting Manager - INSURANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce new business by soliciting or reviewing brokers' submissions.
 
Analyze assigned submissions as to claims history, financial status of the risk, coverage
requirements and quality control programs.
 
Prepare quotation on coverage and terms including negotiation with producers.
 
Review and analyze claims history. Update information on renewals and negotiate terms and
coverages, providing the required quotations.
 
Accept and bind new business, renewals and any midterm changes to policies in accordance with
the division's underwriting guidelines.
 
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with brokers, reinsurers and insureds.
 
Provide continuous maintenance on existing accounts by way of accepting change orders and
continuously reviewing claims activity.
 
Review and sign off new and renewal accounts which are above the other underwriters' authorities. 
 
Take periodic production trips to develop business; promote the Company's products; and keep up-
to-date on market activities, industry changes and current trends.
 
Delegate work to Technical Assistants in the area of policy documentation and approve such work
as necessary.
 
Liaise with Claims Department on interpretation of policy wordings or coverages.
 
Maintain continuous communication with the other Divisions as to marketing intelligence and cross
marketing opportunities.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  
Good decision making, problem solving and negotiating skills.
 Ability to work under pressure.
Computer literate.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Excellent interpersonal skills.
